Chip and Peggy Demetri met in college at the University of Texas where they were both involved in a Christian ministry on campus. During that time, God began laying the foundation for a shared life of ministry through worship, service and outreach. After getting married in December 1994 Chip and Peggy left Austin, where Chip was serving as the Worship Director in a local church, and spent the following summer as part of a short-term mission team in Russia. They served as English teachers and learned first-hand how God could use their availability and skills, as well as Chip’s musical gifts, to help further God’s Kingdom on earth. This would set the tone for their marriage and life together.

Chip and Peggy returned from Russia and moved to Nashville, Tennessee where they lived for 7 years. During that time they had three children, Joshua (born June 15, 1998) and Zachary (born September 8, 1999) and Nathan (born January 16, 2002). In 1997 Chip had the privelege of helping plant West End Community Church and served as the Worship and Missions Pastor for 4 years. While on staff he had the opportunity to travel throughout the world, seeing what God is doing across the globe and encouraging those who are laboring in the harvest. Chip and Peggy then responded to God’s call to go themselves and spent the next 3 years of their life together in Cusco, Peru as missionaries with Missions International.

After returning from Peru and a time of sanctuary in Nashville, the Demetris spent the next 4 years in Eugene, Oregon. Convinced more than ever that Chip is called by God to lead His people in worship; they waited on the Lord to direct them to the right place.  It seems that place is St. Louis, Missouri.  Chip will be joining the staff of Greentree Community Church in the suburb of Kirkwood.
